I was just looking at my online Bible study software and discovered that I have 443 books on my computer. That’s amazing and impressive – not really. Now, if I had read all 443 books that might be impressive. I have only read a handful, and about 95% of those books were free. Free’s a good thing, except we tend to not value free resources much. We have so much free Bible study stuff available to us today. These are great resources that those from the previous generation would be like a child in a toy store if they had access to so much study material. Here is the sad, hard truth – we don’t take advantage of the resources we have available to us.

There is a greater tragedy than this. Those who are in Christ – born again believers – have the great resource of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the great guide we have, but do we use Him as we should? 1 John 2:27, As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you don’t need anyone to teach you. Instead, his anointing teaches you about all things and is true and is not a lie; just as it has taught you, remain in him. We are anointed with the Holy Spirit. With the Holy Spirit, if our ear is listening to Him, He can pull from the resources we have stored in our head at just the time we need them. The problem is, we haven’t stored much in our heads. The main book we need stored in our head is the Bible, God’s Holy Word. Psalm 119:105, Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light on my path.

Give the Holy Spirit something to work with. Hide God’s word in your heart. Read the Bible daily. Meditate on what you have read throughout the day. Then He will be able to remind you and apply what is in His Word! John 14:26, But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and remind you of everything I have told you.

Pursing Him,
