MISSIONS At Glenstone Baptist Church

Leadership:

Woman’s Missionary Union [WMU] Director: Darlene Keith

Men’s Ministry: Michael Beatty

The congregation of Glenstone Baptist Church is challenged to support missions through an ongoing system of programs and promotions.

We maintain regular programs of study about missions which are age-graded. Some of these are conducted on a weekly basis and some are monthly. We encourage everyone to become involved.

Woman's Missionary Union is the name for the umbrella organization which serves the church as a channel of mission’s education. The goal is not only to teach missions, but to engage personally in missions, pray for missions, & to encourage giving to missions. It is devoted to missions education and support of women, youth and children: It includes Women on Mission [WOM] Groups [adults], Acteens [girls-grades 7--12]; Girls in Action [girls-grades 1--6]; Mission Friends [boys & girls--age 4-5]. Royal Ambassadors [boys--grades 1-6] Challengers [boys--grades 7-12].

Men’s Ministry is a missions program devoted to the men of the church, The goal of this organization is one of fellowship, spiritual growth, and family ministry outreach.

Each 5th Thursday evening Glenstone BC serves a meal at Cedarbrook Housing for the residents. A Bible Study is provided by the Lifebuilders Ministries, Winston Barnett, Dir.

In addition, we support the work of Grand Oak Baptist Mission Center which ministers to the needy of Greene County through food and clothing and other items provided by the local churches of Greene County Baptist Association.

We also support the Pregnancy Care Center with diapers/wipes; Operation Christmas Child with Christmas boxes; and Angel Child [children of inmates]--through Prison Fellowship; and Baptist Global Relief [water purifiers & water wells].

Our church contributes a substantial percentage of our income to worldwide causes through the support of the Cooperative Program of Southern Baptists. In this way, we share in mission work done in Greene County, the state of Missouri, the United States, and all around the world. This includes the work of the Missouri Baptist Convention, the Southern Baptist Convention, the North American Mission Board, and the International Mission Board.

We also receive special offerings at designated times for various causes, including the Greene County Baptist Associational Jim Joslin Offering, Rheubin L. South Missouri Missions Offering, Annie Armstrong Easter Offering for North American Missions, and the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for International Missions.

FILIPINO-AMERICAN CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP

In 2005 a study was made concerning the number of Filipino-Americans living in the Springfield area with the result that a plan was made to begin a work here. Home Bible Studies were begun and Glenstone Baptist Church became the sponsor of this work. In July of 2006, Rev. Ednor Sebag came from the Philippines to be the first pastor of this congregation. The current Pastor is Orley Perlawan. They continue to meet in the facilities of Glenstone Baptist Church each Sunday afternoon. Every fifth Sunday the Glenstone and Filipino congregations join together in a worship service or fellowship activity.  For more information on this Fellowship contact Pastor Orley at 417-763-1899, e-mail oqperlawan@yahoo.com.ph.
